Common Weal Community Arts links artists and communities to animate long-term positive and social change.

We strive to inspire ideas for social change through art. By linking professional artists with communities to engage in collaborative art projects, we empower people - and their communities - to tell their stories in their own voices.

Our projects are diverse, ranging from video, performance, audio, photography, traditional practices, voice, site specific, multimedia, and inter-disiplinary works.!

Jori Cachene

Jori Cachene is a mother, artist and teacher from the Yellow Quill First Nation.  Currently, she lives in Regina with her husband Peter and her two children Anna and Elijah.  Jori graduated from the First Nations University with a degree in Indian Fine Arts and another in Indian Education.  Aside from teaching, Jori is a practicing artist.  Recently, she has been working on a series of fabric pieces which focus on the parenting practices of First Nations people.  Through these pieces, Jori hopes to create dialogue about traditional parenting practices, while posing questions about the best methods of parenting for First Nations communities.
